Indian Institute of Technology Bombay

The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay is a public engineering institution located in Powai, Mumbai, India. It has been ranked among the top engineering colleges in India.
The logo has a gear as its boundary - a symbol traditionally used to denote core engineering and a lotus in its centre. The Goddess of knowledge Saraswati sits on a lotus - a symbol of knowledge and purity. There is an oblique view of a book in front of the lotus again referring to the pure education the institute wishes to impart. The line in Sanskrit "gyanam paramam dhyeyam" means gaining knowledge should be first chapter in life.
