Chronology of Logo Evolution
1966-1969
Master Card World earlier was a group of 17 bankers for the reciprocal acceptance of their credit cards. They named it as “Interbank” and hence, the ‘i’ represents the participating members of Interbank Card Association.
1969-1979
The next version has change of name from Interbank to Master Charge and logo included basic prototype(Intersection of Circles) and this version carried the traces of old logo(The "i").
1979-1990
Master Charge is changed to Master card, this version reflected these changes with dismissal of "i" symbol and "The Interbank Card" text.
1990-1996
In the next version font was changed, cut border colors are added and italicized, and the intersection of the circles was changed to 23 horizontal stripes.
1996-Till Date
The next version has a more spectacular font replacing old font, and the number of bars was also cut down, making the logo simpler and more powerful.Punch-Line: There are some things money can't buy. For everything else, there's Mastercard.
